Abhaneri was originally named Abha Nagri which means the city of brightness. It was built by King Raja Chand of Gurjar Kingdom in the 9th century. It is a legend that the goddess Harshat Mata showered brightness all over the village, so it is named Abha Nagri which is majorly pronounced as Abhanagri.

Chand Baori – Chand Baori is the oldest and most popular attraction in Rajasthan which was built by King Chandra of the Nikumbha Dynasty in the 9^th century AD. It is one of the largest stepwells in the world. Chand Baori was built to conserve water and provide respite from the intense heat.

Harshat Mata Temple – The ancient temple of Harshat Mata was built on pillars in a sanctum-style scheme. The outer walls of the temple have Brahman Bhadra niches and images of gods carved into them. These are fine sculptures found in the upper shiver of the temple.
