It is an event organized by Rajasthan Tourism Department for promotion of tourism. There will be folk dances, music, heritage walks and camel races, to which has to be added the local cuisine.

Diwali (October–November)

But Alwar comes to life with colors and energy as clay lamps light up the city and Alwar streets and markets.

Makar Sankranti (January)

The skies are dotted with color and the locals fly kites. Til laddoos are consumed at large as traditional sweets.

Teej and Gangaur

The singing, procession and traditional rituals in celebrating women. While not as loud as that of Jaipur, Alwar’s atmosphere is still one of its own.

When do you want to plan your trip?

To feel the best of Alwar, visit this location between October to March. With the perfect climate for sightseeing, safaris, fort visiting, and boating, the place is excellent during winters. For great weather accompanied by cultural events, November and February are the best times to travel.

The monsoon season is makes for ideal quiet getaways and romantic escapes, or for budget travel. The soft, green side of Alwar that most tourists miss is revealed.

Unless you don’t mind the summer heat and the desolation due to cooler months, avoid the summit in the middle of summer (May–June). This means less crowding with the mystical ruins and ancient temples.

Conclusion

So much, in fact, that some of its famous neighbors like Jaipur or Udaipur even tend to overshadow Alwar. With tiger trails, royal palaces, haunted forts, sacred lakes that were alive in the heart of Rajasthan to say the least, Alwar is a miniature of the state—all accessible and laden with history.

Select your season well and Alwar will reveal to you a Rajasthan that is small and proud, massive and awesome. Whether during the cool winter sun or under monsoon clouds, Alwar never fails to charm up to those who take the time to discover it.

Summer Season

Temperature Range: 30°C to 45°C. Weather: Hot and dry and with intense sunlight. Best For: Budget travelers, spiritual seekers, and low-season tourists Why Visit Alwar in Summer? Alwar is not an exception when it comes to excruciating heat in summers in Rajasthan. While travel in May and June is not encouraged (May and June average around 40°C), there is nothing to stop you. No Crowds, Low Costs: If you can handle the host of a summer, cheap stays and no tourist rush, no tourists, low costs: summer is the way to go if you are a seasoned traveler. Moreover, the popular sites are empty and photogenic like Bhangarh Fort, City Palace, and Neemrana Fort (nearby). Early Morning Safaris: Early visitors will find Sariska opens early in summer, and since animals come out to drink at dawn, there are regularly excellent wildlife sightings. It is just make sure your safari is before 8 a.m. Spiritual Calm: Visit temples like Pandupol Hanuman Temple in the nearby Sariska area for quiet spiritual experiences. Over these spots fewer pilgrims pay their visits during this time. Travel Tips: Hydrate yourself and wear light undepthable clothing. Do not participate in outdoor activities between 12PM to 4PM. Therefore, choose accommodations with good pool and cooling facilities:)

Monsoon Season

Temperature Range: 22°C to 30°C. Rainfall: Moderate. Best For: Nature lovers, romantic travelers, and offbeat experiences. Why Consider Visiting During the Rains: Unlike the other seasons, monsoon is not usually a season which one would want to visit Alwar for, because it brings a green transformation to otherwise a quiet region. The rain falls on the parched land and the hills are again emerald, and water falls in the surrounding Aravalli hills. The Rainforest of Sariska: The Sariska Reserve is a verdant jungle during the rains. Jeep safaris are not operated in heavy rain (usually July and half of August) but the park is open partially during the second half of monsoon. This is excellent bird watching time. Photogenic Landscapes: Monsoon is the time when photographers could have photo shoots at photogenic Landscapes. Among them are Bala Qila which overlooks the swirling mist of monsoon clouds, Moosi Maharani ki Chhatri, and Siliserh Lake. Less Tourists: Meaning less tourists in town, you can go to the monuments under much more peaceful atmosphere. Also, boutique hotels and resorts offer competitive rates making it the right destination for couples or solo travelers looking for a quiet venture. Travel Tips: See if the weather is good and schedule for sightseeing in the morning. Carry shoes, bags and jackets that are waterproof. Trail may be slippery, hiking not recommended if raining.

Winter Season

Temperature Range: 8°C to 22°C. Weather: Cool, pleasant, and comfortable. Suggested For: Wildlife safaris, sightseeing, historical tours as well as romantic getaways. There are certain advantages that Winter has over the other seasons, which I feel are more than enough to qualify it as the best season of the year. Winter being the time when Alwar is at its most inviting, the temperature does just dip to a cool breeze but not too cold. Due to wealth of heritage monuments, lakes and forested area, outdoor exploration is made easy and enjoyable. Sariska Tiger Reserve Open for Safaris: Sampark can be initiated for Sariska Tiger Reserve Safaris which are now open after monsoon break till October. In cooler weather, the dry deciduous forests come alive to wildlife activity — chances of tiger, leopard or sambar are much higher. Perfect for the Forts and Palaces: A visit to Alwar Fort, City Palace and Moti Doongri in the crisp winter sun is a treat. Without the oppressively hot summer temperature, it is much more enjoyable to walk antique corridors and climb high bastions. Lake Visits and Boat Rides: Siliserh Lake, which is a former royal hunting lodge turned heritage hotel and picnic spot, is especially beautiful in the winter and its pleasant chilled waters are perfect for the refreshing boat rides and lake visits. The surrounding hills offer there reflection on the calm waters, with boating, bird watching and just enjoying the peace. Festive Season and Local Celebrations: Winter is also the time of Indian festivals, including Diwali, Christmas, and Makar Sankranti, thus, the city is livelier during this time. Alwar hosts cultural events, local melas (fairs), and special lighting in the town center. Travel Tips: Light woolens to carry as well especially for early mornings and evenings. Book Sariska safaris in advance, i.e. particularly on weekend. But staying in heritage hotels is the royal experience complete.
